Earth as Art exhibit – February 2-26, 2017

The ISU GIS Facility along with IowaView is bringing an art exhibit to Ames! It is a unique exhibit that is a fusion of art and science – we hope that the exhibit will inspire viewers with beautiful images from around our planet and also provide a platform for education (satellite imagery, geography, earth science, physics, and art.)

The exhibit runs from Thursday, February 2 to Sunday, February 26th. The Earth as Art exhibit features beautiful Landsat prints selected from U.S. Geological Survey – EROS Data Center’s four Earth as Art collections.   We have also produced educational posters showing the geographic locations of the images and a poster explaining how Landsat images are created. Three activities, a color wheel, a simplified satellite model, and a scavenger hunt were created for our younger gallery visitors to enjoy.

Gallery hours are: Thursday: 4 to 7; Friday: 2 to 5; Saturday 11 to 5, and Sundays Feb 19 and 26, 2-5pm. We are also interested in scheduling additional hours by appointment, please contact amylogan@iastate.edu for more information.
