As we are getting back into the swing of things this fall, it is important to recall some of our favorite IowaView memories from the summer.
1) Poster presentation in Boston, Massachusetts at 2025 OpenStreetMap State of the Map US.
IowaView state coordinator, Amy Logan, traveled to Boston, MA, this summer to present a poster, “Learning to Map Something OSM (pronounced: awesome) in Iowa: Highlights from 10 years of using Open Street Map Applications.” <<<click the link to view the poster<<< The poster shared about IowaView’s work using OpenStreetMap, Humanitarian OpenstreetMap, and TeachOSM in mapathons and workshops over the last ten years.
2) Iowa Future Farmers of America (FFA) Digital Agriculture Teacher Training.
Dr. Brian Gelder (IowaView PI) and Amy Logan co-presented an afternoon workshop about digital agriculture. First, Brian led an introduction to aerial imagery, GIS, and remote sensing agricultural apps for the classroom. Then Amy highlighted many features of the Iowa Geographic Map Server, ISU’s aerial imagery repository and app.
3) The Recording (and Release) of the Spatial Signals Podcast Episodes.
Robin McNeely (former IV PI) and Amy Logan both had an opportunity to record a podcast episode. Both enjoyed the interview process and sharing their stories and adventures in GIS and remote sensing. The episodes were both released this summer.
